Local Businessman Plays Host
Published: May 31, 2009
Ron Villano, nationally known author of “The Zing,” will speak at the White Plains Performing Arts Center this Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. The event, “Embrace the Power of Change,” is free (tickets required for entry), brought to White Plains courtesy of Matt Fiorillo, a local business owner.

In a recent interview with White Plains Times, Villano, a psychotherapist, licensed in New York, spoke about his perspective on life and how living in the moment can enable people to work through change. “Look around you and see how it is,” says Villano. “People are not happy, they don’t know how to move forward and effect change in their lives. I used to worry about a lot of things, but now those are ‘So what!’ moments. Every person has the power to flow with change, but most people don’t believe they can.”

What changed Villano’s life was the loss of his 17-year-old son, Michael, over 10 years ago. He was down and out and depressed, but realized that his son’s life was something to celebrate. Loss is devastation for the moment, explains Villano. The way to handle situations is by accepting them and working through them one moment at a time. “Never let anyone take you down,” says Villano, adding: “most people are just one degree away from total happiness.”

Villano uses humor in his presentations, claiming “laughter brings you immediately into the moment.” He looks forward to his visit to White Plains. “I have a reason to be there,” he muses. “There is someone out there who has been asking for help and that person will be touched.” Perhaps that person is you.
